Announcements For February 22nd, 2017

Academics

The Jostens graduation representative will be here on Friday, Feb. 24th during all lunches to deliver gold honor stoles & tassels. BHS honor students please be prepared to bring $15.00 cash to pick up your honor stole & tassel during all lunches.

Athletics

The girls tennis team will practice inside from 3:00-4:30 today in Mrs. Turner's room doing Tae bo.  

JV and Varsity Boys' Soccer practice is cancelled today.

Outdoor track and field will start Monday, February 27th. There is a sign up sheet in the main office. A physical is required. Make sure to get one before coming out. For more information about track please see Coach Johnson after school.

Clubs 

Brookville FFA will celebrate National FFA Week, this week. This year’s theme is Transform Purpose to Action, and it embraces more than 89 years of FFA traditions while looking forward to the organization’s future. Nearly 650,000 members will participate in National FFA Week activities at local, state and national levels.
During the week, chapters conduct a variety of activities to help others in their school and community learn about FFA and agricultural education. Brookville will celebrate National FFA Week by participating in the following activities:
Dress up days
Monday:Merica Monday
Tuesday:Tye-Dye Day
Wednesday:Western Day
Thursday: Camo Day
Friday: FFA Shirt Day
And an Agriculture Olympic Game every day.

Today’s FFA members are the innovators and leaders of tomorrow. Through agricultural and hands-on learning, they are preparing for 235 unique career opportunities in the food, fiber and natural resources industry.
Brookville FFA will also be having a pancake breakfast for all staff at Brookville on Friday and providing the teachers with a small gift during the week. We plan to get down to the elementary schools and do a lesson on agriculture and we will be supporting the local women’s shelter this week with a huge donation of supplies. 

Varsity baseball tryouts will be Monday right after school. JV baseball tryouts will be 5:15 on Monday. You need a physical and a concussion testing.

General

Reminder to all current and incoming NHS members: MANDATORY induction rehearsal will happen right after school today in the auditorium. You MUST attend rehearsal in order to be part of the induction ceremony.

Outdoor track and field will start Monday, February 27th. There is a sign up sheet in the main office. A physical is required. Make sure to get one before coming out. For more information about track please see Coach Johnson after school.

Any girls interesting in trying out for JV girls soccer will need a doctor completed physical and a concussion test to tryout on Monday and Tuesday, February 20-21 from 4:30-615 at the middle school field. Please have shoes for playing indoor and outdoor each day.

Varsity baseball tryouts will be Monday right after school. JV baseball tryouts will be 5:15 on Monday. You need a physical and a concussion testing.

JV and Varsity girls softball tryouts are today from 5 to 8 pm on the softball field.

Anyone interested in playing Boys Soccer this spring, there is preseason training Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, after school for the next 2 weeks.

The library will be closed for all lunches today. Only Mrs. Kramer's aides and Governor's School students should report to the library.

Visit the ticket table during all 3 lunches and receive your first clue to begin the scavenger hunt. Ten tickets will be given away this week! Performances of Occupation: Murder are this Friday and Saturday at 6:00p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for students and include a delicious BBQ chicken dinner.

The library will be closed for all lunches on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week. Only Mrs. Kramer's aides and Governor's School students should report to the library.

The girls basketball team will play the winner of Heritage/Tunstall play in game. We will play at 6:00 on Tuesday at Liberty High School.

The boys basketball team will play Liberty, Tuesday night at 7:30 in the semi final game at Heritage High School

The girls basketball team will play the winner of Heritage/Tunstall play in game. We will play at 6:00 on Tuesday at Liberty High School.

The Brookville Track and Field team competed this weekend in the Conference 30 Championship and here are a few highlights from the meet. On the girls side, Madeline Tilley won 3 individual events and setting new meet records in all of them. She placed first in the pole vault, 300 meter and 500 meter dash. She also assisted with the photo finish of the girls 4 by 400 meter relay were her teammates, MJ Germeroth, Alli Brown and Liz Maddox, setting a new meet record of 4:29.35. Summer Myers and Taylor Myers placed 4th and 6th, respectively in the 55 meter dash. MJ placed 5th in the 300 meter dash, 4th in the 500 meter dash and 6th in Triple Jump. Zamir Hurtte placed 1st in long jump and took 2nd in high jump. Alli Brown also placed 2nd in the 1000 meter run and placed 2nd in the 1600 meter run. The lady's placed third overall.

On the boys side Nathan Maddox placed first in the 1000 meter run and also placed 2nd in the 1600m run. Demetrius clark placed 6th in the 55 meter dash, 6th in the 300 meter dash and 4th in the high jump. Nykie Pray placed 1st in the long jump, 2nd in triple jump, 5th in the 55 meter dash as well as placing 5th in high jump. The boy's placed fourth overall.

These athletes will move onto the next round of post season with the 3A West Region meet this Friday at Liberty University starting at 5 pm. Come out and support the bees!!!!

You forgot to buy a flower for your special someone before school today, and your lunch was too wonderful to remember then, so you think you're out of luck. Never fear! The Latin Club will be selling flowers outside room 106 today after school! Stop by and ensure all the people in your life know you are thinking of them. This afternoon is the absolute last time to buy flowers.

We are collecting toiletry items for our disaster relief kits and for every item you turn in, your name will be entered into a raffle to win a Chick-fil-a lunch for your and five friends! Again these items include soap, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, combs, razors, lip balm, lotion and the like.We accept travel size and full size items alike, but be sure all items are unused! Please see Mrs. Cooter with any questions and be sure all items are turned in by Friday, February the 10th!

The French club will meet after school today till 4:00 to prepare letters to mail to France.
