Athletics

Want to play a spring sport? It's not too late to join the Boys Tennis Team! Practices on Monday
and Tuesday start at 4:00pm. Wednesday - Friday practices start at 3:00pm.
Come on out and try a new sport!

JV boys soccer practice is cancelled today. Go JV.

Football Players - Just a reminder that we will lift after school Thursday this week. Our normal weight-room schedule (Monday through Thursday) will resume next week.

The James River Leadership Academy is a year long program for high school students(rising 10th-12th graders) who are inspired to impact the future of the James River. Students will train to become stewards and leaders in the field of environmental science/ecology through 4 outdoor training sessions and a community action based project. There is no cost for the application or the program.
Interested students should see either Mrs. Bond in room 423 or Mrs. Carlson in the School Counseling Office for more information and an application. Application deadline is March 9th.

The Jostens graduation representative will be here tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 23rd during all
lunches to deliver gold honor stoles & tassels. BHS honor students please be prepared
to bring $15.00 cash to pick up your honor stole & tassel during all lunches.

Good luck tomorrow to our Forensics team as they compete in the Super Regional tournament
hosted here in the Hive! Competitors include Jessica Murphy, Bailey Duncan, Sean Weller, and
Connor Brown! Brookville students: if you have always wondered what Forensics is all about
and want to see the best of the best, then we will see you in the Library tomorrow at 10am
to witness this amazing competition!

Brookville's chapter will be participating with dress up days, agricultural olympic games, and an appreciation breakfast for teachers this Friday for their support of our program! They will also be supporting Friends of Campbell County Animal Control with a grounds cleanup day!

JV: Today at Timbrook Park starting at 3:30.
Bus will leave the high school to transport players to/from TimbrookPark

Varsity: Today at Timbrook Park starting at 4:30
Players may take the bus after school to the Park and wait for tryouts to start.

Aceademics

There will be no math homework help today due to parent conferences. We'll back on schedule this Thursday

Jv and Varsity Boys Soccer tryouts will be right after school at Timbrook Park. The bus, for those who do not drive, will be outside the old gym right after school. Make sure you have an up to date VHSL physical before practice.

tryouts for JV & Varsity softball will be in the old gym from 3:10 - 4:45. You must have a physical and completed the baseline concussion test to tryout.

Congratulations to the Brookville Wrestling Team as they return from VHSL State Wrestling tournament with 5 All-State Wrestlers. The All-State Wrestlers are:
Garrett Good placing 4th, Jalen Fyffe placed 5th, Jordan Patterson placed 6th, Morgan Viar place 6th and Hudson Stewart is the 3A State Champion at 152lbs!

All spring sports athletes, in need of concussion baseline testing, should report to computer lab 204 today at 3:15p. You may NOT tryout if you do not have a current and valid baseline test.

Today, Boys Soccer JV tryouts in the high school gym. We will finish by 4:45.

Boys Soccer Varsity tryouts will now be in the Middle School gym at 4:30.

"Winterguard took to the floor in competition with their show this year, And Sew It Goes at
Woodbridge Senior high school in Woodbridge Va on Saturday. They competed against
11 other groups from across Va and won 1st place. Congratulations to all the members
of this year's winterguard."

"Indoor Percussion competed against 8 other groups with their show "The Uninvited"
The Drumline came in second place overall."

The indoor groups perform next at Atlee High School

Congratulations to our Lady Bees Basketball team on their Seminole District Championship. Our Lady Bees will be in the hive on Monday as we begin Regions. Please make plans to attend and cheer our ladies on to another win!!

Also CONGRATULATIONS to our very wrestling team for being Regional Champions. And also to Coach Stewart for being named Regional Coach of the Year!!

There will be a Boys Tennis Informational Meeting on Monday, Feb 12th at 3:00pm in the BHS Cafeteria with Coach Roark. All interested persons should plan to attend and be part of a great team and great experience. First day of practice is Monday, Feb 19th at 4:00pm on the BHS tennis courts.

There will be no Outdoor Track and Field conditioning today.

Conditioning will resume Tuesday, February 13. As a reminder, the first day of practice will
be February 19. Please have a current physical on file or bring one with you.

As you all know, the Latin Club is having its annual Flower Sale. Want to secretly buy a flower for yourself to make your friends jealous? We got you covered! Each flower is $1.25, so bring your money and prepare for some heartbreak.

The Sadie Hawkins’s Dance will be held on Friday, Feb. 9, 2018 at the Brookville Ruritan Club from 7 – 10 p.m. Tickets will be $10.00 in advance and will be sold during lunches the week of Feb. 5 – 9. Tickets will also be sold at the door for $12.00. All students attending the dance must be in high school. Join us for an evening of fun with food, music, and a photo area.

The Art and Carpentry Departments have been working together on a LIFE-SIZE Connect Four game for all BHS students to enjoy. You can play the game with a friend, "connect" with someone you may not know, or make teams of 2! It will be available for use in the cafeteria during breakfast and lunch.

Come join your classmates and participate in the half-court shot shooting contest this Friday during the pep rally!! $1 to participate. Tickets sold at lunches Wednesday, Thursday and Friday or you can see Mrs. Davis during the day. Cash prize available for the winner!

Latin Club will be selling carnations from February 1-13 for $1.25 per flower!!! Stop by a table in the mornings in the front lobby or by Ms. Heagy’s room or at all three lunches. NEW this year is a CANDY ARRANGEMENT RAFFLE!!!! Each recipient is entered to win a Valentine’s candy arrangement for every flower they receive. Show someone you care!!

Students and staff: Thanks to everyone who participated in the Red Cross club military drive! We collected over 460 items, and the student who brought in the most items and the winner of $25 to Chickfila is....Skylar Kidd!... with 128 items donated! Thanks again to everyone who participated!

Any junior interested in making decisions for prom needs to come to the meeting. We will be choosing colors, theme, song and discussing decorations. Please come to Mrs. Tate's room (509) January 31 at 3:00. If you are unable to attend please come and talk to Mrs. Ewers or Mrs.
